The substance tends to polymerize. BAM currently has no information on the temperature of the self-accelerating polymerisation (SAPT) in the various containment types as well as on the heat of reaction.

If the substance, when transported in packagings, intermediate bulk containers (IBCs) or tanks, has a self-accelerating polymerisation temperature (SAPT) not exceeding 75C and a heat of reaction exceeding 300 J/g, it shall be assigned to

UN No. 3532 POLYMERIZING SUBSTANCE, LIQUID, STABILIZED, N.O.S.

of Class 4.1.

For carriage in packagings or intermediate bulk containers (IBC) with a SAPT not exceeding 50C or in tanks not exceeding 45C, assignment to

UN No. 3534 POLYMERIZING SUBSTANCE, LIQUID, TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED, N.O.S.

shall be made in Class 4.1.

In the case of a SAPT greater than 75C or a heat of reaction not exceeding 300 J/g, the substance is not subject to the UN Model Regulations.
